All you need is the Chrome extension. Sign in on the official OpenAI website and return to Gmail. No terminal, additional app or AI provider key is required.

The extension will display a one-time sign-in code. You only enter your password on OpenAI. Saved connection credentials are encrypted on the gmagic.app server.

  1. Install the extension in Chrome.

    Extract the archive, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and choose “Load unpacked”. Select the folder containing manifest.json.

    The package includes the configured Google connection. You do not need to edit files or set up Google Cloud. If you have an older extension, read the data migration instructions below before updating.

  2. Get your access in the customer dashboard.

    Sign in to the gmagic.app dashboard, activate your subscription and copy your access key. Paste it into the extension settings; the connection to gmagic.app is configured automatically.

  3. Sign in to ChatGPT and connect Gmail.

    Select ChatGPT in the extension, read the consent information and click sign in. Copy the code and select “Open OpenAI”. Enter it on the OpenAI website, then return to Gmail. If OpenAI requires it, enable device-code sign-in in your account security settings. Then connect your Google account and open a conversation in Gmail.

    Google access is currently in testing. The administrator must add your Google account address to the allowed accounts. If Google blocks sign-in, give the administrator the address you want to connect.

    Choose “Change Google account” in Settings to switch Gmail and Drive together. Complete account selection in the Google window, then open that account’s vault. Switching locks the previous vault and clears its context from the panel.

  4. Add context and prepare a draft.

    After an email loads, a “To do” list appears above the chat. Check off completed tasks and add selected items to your notes with “Add to reply”. Choose conversations, attach knowledge and add your instructions. Review the reply before saving it to Gmail. The extension does not send emails automatically.

Moving from an older installation

Before updating to 0.4.19, save unfinished drafts and settings. In chrome://extensions, compare your current extension ID with: lpmdjmgffkkbplhpjgpabggidckknija.

Same ID. Replace the files in the existing folder with the complete package, reload the extension and refresh Gmail. Use the manifest included in the new package.

Different ID. Keep the old extension, its folder and data. Extract the new package into a separate folder and load it as a new extension. Do not remove or overwrite the older installation before recovering the data you need.

Local knowledge and API settings do not transfer automatically between different IDs. Get your gmagic.app key from the account panel and copy the local sources you need from the old extension.

Open your Drive knowledge base with the same Google account: select the existing folder, choose “Open knowledge base” and enter your existing password or recovery key. If the folder is missing, keep the old extension and contact the administrator.

Extension updates

Click “Update” in the extension footer or Settings. In the Chrome Web Store version, the button checks Chrome for an update and asks you to confirm a restart when it is ready. Save unfinished drafts first. No downloads or manual reinstallation are needed for subsequent updates.

The current ZIP version still requires manual file replacement. Automatic updates for regular Chrome installations on Windows and macOS will be available after publication in the Chrome Web Store and a one-time installation of the store version. The store version has not been published yet.

Version for manual installation with the Google connection configured. ChatGPT integration: Codex access, device-code sign-in, models and limits depend on your OpenAI account. Selected email context passes through the gmagic.app server to OpenAI. The extension continues to encrypt your knowledge base on Drive.
